The joint training camp was held in Chichibu on October 28th (Saturday) and 29th (Sunday) by IHI Aikido Club, Aikido Mutōkai, and Hamakaze Aikikai.
This is M and it was first time in my life to write blog about the 60th Aikido Embu-kai which was held in this May. I received many favorable comments on that occasion and thank you very much for all the positive feedback that time.
And once again, I was assigned by Mr. Y of Hamakaze to play the major role of recording this very valuable joint training camp. While my memory is still warm, I will record the events of these two days and open to public. In this blog, I will open the record of the joint training camp according to the following three keywords that left a
lasting impression on me.
Keyword 1: Ogano-cho Budojo was filled with excitement.
Keyword 2: ♬Banquet♬
Keyword 3: Never knock on room number 250?
Keyword 1: Ogano-cho Budojo filled with excitement
After a 35 minutes bus ride from Seibu-Chichibu Station, we arrived at the Ogano-cho Budojo and we started joint training, which is the main event of this camp, on time under the guidance of Seki Shihan. Before the training, many of the participants were meeting for the first time, so the 33 members of IHI, Muto-kai, and Hamakaze introduced themselves briefly, including their names and dan ranks, and then the training began.
While many of the IHI and Hamakaze members had already gained a dan, the Muto-kai members had only just started and had been training for less than a few months. When I knew the fact and saw such new members who listened closely and tried to learn each technique diligently, I was moved and I said to myself once again that “Do not forget initial intention!” During this joint training camp, I was very grateful that three of us, including myself, were allowed to receive Seki Shihan’s Uke as a member of Hamakaze. I was filled with gratitude for having such a wonderful opportunity to be a part of this precious occasion.
Keyword2: ♬Banquet♬
After a lot of pleasant sweat, a banquet of foods and drinks awaited us. The banquet party started with a toast by Seki Shihan. As a record keeper, I couldn't miss to mention that Mr. T of IHI had a wonderful and big smile on his face and always had alcohol in his hand (see the photo), while others were hungry after the training and hot spring and were enjoying the meal with members around.
At the middle of the banquet, detailed introductions of each group and individual self-introductions began. Before the training, we were introduced only by names and dan ranks, thus the detailed self-introductions of each group held at the banquet hall.
Mr. Y of the Muto-kai began by introducing the 11 members, including their individual training days precisely. I was move to hear Muto-kai members' passion for Aikido and gratitude to Seki Shihan and Mr. Y from bottom of their hearts.
I was also impressed by Mr. Y, the representative of the group of Muto-kai, has been taking care of each member seriously and dealing with each of them closely as precious member.
